The Apollo 11 mission was launched from Florida on July 16, 1969. The crew consisted of Commander Neil Alden Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins, and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin Eugene "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr. This spaceflight landed the first humans on the Moon on July 20th. The next day, on July 21st, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the Moon. The three astronauts returned to Earth with 47.5 pounds (21.5 kg) of lunar rocks and landed in the Pacific Ocean on July 24. A little know fact is that the astronauts all wore Omega Speedmaster Man on the Moon watches, as they came to be known!
