A Week of Holidays

Posted by

It doesn't always happen, but this year it does: Christmas and Hanukkah, the Festival of Light celebrated by the Jewish community, falls on the very same week. This makes for a great deal to celebrate and for which to be thankful.

An interesting fact about these two holidays is not just that they are both celebrated in December, but that they are both celebrated on the 25th of their respective "months" -- Christmas is celebrated on the 25th of December and Hanukkah is celebrated on the 25th of the Hebrew month of Kislev.

Another interesting fact is that Hanukkah is the most recent of the holidays added to the Jewish calendar. Yet while its the "youngest holiday" in that sense, it pre-dates Christmas by nearly 140 years. That's something that I think would surprise most people, including those celebrating the festival.

Here at AnyDate.com, we're thankful to all our customers for allowing us to serve them and hope that everyone enjoys this wonderful and magical time of the year!

Happy Holidays!
