"What a Drag it is Getting Old" - The Rolling Stones

Posted by

They are the ones who said it, but can you take the Rolling Stones at their word?

While their 1965 song "Mother's Little Helper" bemoaned aging, today the Rolling Stones are proving that it's not so bad after all! Since April, the group, formed in London in 1962, has been on their 47th concert tour, concluding with a few final gigs in California to round out a record 1775 concerts performed.

Honestly, those numbers are unbelievable, but that's what Wikipedia says!

In any event, these rock stars are aging—just like their audience. In fact, the current Hackney Diamonds Tour is sponsored by AARP, the American non-profit that represents the interests of those over the age of fifty! Now that's ironic, but it pays the bills!

If you or someone you know is a fan of the Stones or any major rock icons of years gone by, check out our framed original pages from LIFE Magazine.
